With Aston Villa continuing their preparations for our return to the Premier League and the coming 2018/19 campaign with a pre-season training camp out in Minnesota this week, assistant head coach Richard O’Kelly took his turn in front of the cameras recently.
The interview was definitely worth a read and it was definitely worth a watch as well, and how he spoke about the ‘blueprint’ of the club moving forward, if any Villa fans didn’t know we now had an identity after how we played last season, they certainly should now.
"We are Aston Villa – a forward-thinking, attacking side. We won't change the blueprint."

Given his particular choice of words and the emphasis he placed on Villa continuing to be ‘a forward-thinking, attacking side’ despite the slightly different challenges that we’ll face in the top flight, it understandably went over very well with fans on social media.

Well said. Richard OK was unbelievably when he was at Doncaster under o Driscoll. Donny had a lot of successful years in championship punching above their weight and a lot of it was down to him too

Real hidden gem this bloke. His knowledge of the game is brilliant and a blessing to have as an assistant

He definitely deserves some of the praise as well, doesn't get enough

It won’t always go our way obviously, but a team 100% knowing what they are supposed to be doing can only be an advantage, especially as we deal with the inevitable suspensions and injuries that will come.
