Recent setback shows transfer policy needs work for summer

|

Aston Villa are flying along at the moment and the fun is set to continue tomorrow afternoon as the Villans take on Sheffield Wednesday.

The men from Villa Park have been in fine form over the last few weeks and are now bang in with a chance of making the top six come the end of the campaign.

Regardless of how we do, though, new signings will be needed in the summer window and it appears that our transfer policy still needs some work.

Just look at the fiasco involving Tom Carroll.

He was signed late on when we couldn’t get Leroy Fer – even though they are different types of midfielder.

He then came in, and found himself down the pecking order given the established players ahead of him in the squad.

He’s got injured and now he is back to Swansea without really featuring for us – it’s been a real head-scratcher.

Clearly, we’re getting better at deals, but ones like this cannot be repeated in the summer.
