With so many arrivals so far this summer for Aston Villa as we looked to bolster the group given the number of contract expiries we saw at the end of our successful promotion winning Championship season, there are a few players we will be actively looking to get rid of and Republic of Ireland striker Scott Hogan certainly falls into that bracket.

With the permanent transfer window coming to a close on Thursday evening, we do have until the end of the month to secure loan moves but if a recent report from the Daily Mail is to be believed, we might not have to wait that long as we are now apparently in talks with Stoke City over a season long loan spell.

It just hasn’t worked out for the 27-year-old following his big money switch from Brentford and although a permanent deal would probably be preferred by all concerned here, a decent spell out on loan given next summer he’ll have 12 months left on his deal, would at least ensure we received some kind of fee for him if it worked out. Additional reports suggest there’s also interest from Bristol City and West Bromwich Albion.

No point looking on social media for a reaction here, I imagine ‘I’ll give him a lift’ would be a popular option.
