According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Jacob Bedeau could be on his way out of Aston Villa to join Scunthorpe United. The 19-year-old has struggled for playing time with the Midlands outfit since joining from Bury in 2017 and will seek a move to a side willing to give him more opportunities.

Bedeau’s contract is up in the summer and an extension looks unlikely given the stiff competition in the first-team – under Dean Smith, Axel Tuanzebe, James Chester, Kortney Hause and Tommy Elphick are ahead of the centre-back in the pecking order.

Villa are looking to cash in on the defender rather than let him leave for free in the coming months and there had been a lot of interest from sides in the Football League. Scunthorpe, however, are believed to have won the race for his signature and could soon agree a three-year deal with Bedeau to have him available for their weekend outing with Barnsley.

The young defender made 43 appearances in Villa’s reserve team, having failed to turn out in the senior squad. Bedeau will be hoping history doesn’t repeat itself at Glanford Park.
