The Abel Hernandez rumour has reared its head again. Despite Tony Xia’s claims last summer that the club will not deal with the Uruguayan’s agents again, Leeds Live are reporting that we are “leading the race” for the striker.

The Hull forward is out of contract in the summer and is available on the free transfer, and the website believes he is prioritising Premier League football.

Our involvement in the Playoff final and the prospect of being promoted mean we are the team most likely to sign him still with Steve Bruce keen to recruit him if top-flight status is achieved.

However, Leeds Live say Wolves and Leeds United are also interested. While the former have not made any official approach to the player, the Whites have already put a contract on the table to Hernandez.

The Uruguayan international is said to be considering the “serious, attractive offer”, but he doesn’t want to make a hasty decision on his future. The earliest he’ll make a choice on his next club will reportedly be “next week.”
