Robbie Keane coming to Villa at last?

Well according to James Nursey at The Mirror he is.

The 29-year-old Spurs striker, currently on loan at Celtic, is a major target for Martin O’Neill this summer according to the report. Not the first time we’ve heard this but hopefully this time it comes true, I think he’d be an outstanding acquisition and would certainly get the juices flowing up front, something we are a little short of at the moment. Imagine Keano in the side this year? We’d have converted more of our draws into wins and would be sitting very pretty higher up the league.

Apparently Appy Arry wants to keep Roman Pavlyuchenko and with Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch also in their set up, will need to off-load one striker and his choice is Robbie who so nearly joined us from Wolves all those years ago.

Myth buster: As much as I’d like to blame Doug Ellis for everything from the fall of the Roman empire onwards, this time the legend that he wouldn’t buy Robbie having decided he was worth £500k less than the asking price was wrong. John Gregory went to watch him several times and admitted he decided he couldn’t take the risk because he didn’t play that well each time he viewed him. He also pointed out that 19 other Premiership managers also missed the gem at the time as he went to Internazionale (commonly referred to as Inter Milan) instead!

Keano has 8 goals in 8 games for Celtic but they can’t afford the £9million asking price.

Come on Villa, bring Keano here!

Good or bad signing folks, have your say.
