Robbie Keane marked his return to the Black Country with a brace that inspired us to all 3 points.
Speaking to Sky Sports following the 3-2 victory our on loan striker was rather refreshingly honest about our performance.
‘I think the first 15 minutes we played very well and kept the ball on the ground. They couldn’t cope with us, but then after that when we got the goal, we seemed to drop off and certainly Wolves were the better team in the first half.’
Keane adds that there was a ‘chat’ at half time, and the team came out determined to replicate the first 5 minutes for the whole of the second half.
‘We had a chat at half time and we went out and did the same as we did in the first 15 by keeping the ball on the ground and make them work for it, which they did. I think that’s what got the result in the end.’
Keane obviously enjoyed his return to the Molineux and was delighted with his goals, but said he had fond memories of his time at the club.
‘I had wonderful times at Wolves. They looked after me as a kid and I’ll never forget that, but at the end of the day you have to be professional and do your job for the team you’re with and that’s Aston Villa.’
