The Daily Star have caught up at last! The whisper for ages has been that Villa would be interested in Chelsea caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo if Chelsea don`t take him on permanently.

The Daily Star article totally discredits itself though, because it says that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has opted to stay in Norway.

As you will know if you`ve read the coverage on Vital Villa, he`s done no such thing! Catch up Daily Star.

They also say that Di Matteo is a ‘shock` target.

Why is that a shock? If he isn`t taken on by Chelsea, he is young, hungry and has now had the ultimate success!

Apparently Di Matteo will find out this week if Roman Abramovich is going to take him on or not.

Di Matteo still lives in and around the Midlands from his Baggies days.

The Daily Star points out that Di Matteo wouldn`t cost anything in compensation as his contract runs out at the end of the month (I thought it was the end of June but I might have just miss-read that)

The Chelsea fans seem behind Di Matteo so this is probably a non story now. They were chanting that they wanted him to stay at the end of their victory v Bayern Munich.

Opinions?!
