After a three year absence, Aston Villa are back where we belong and we take up our rightful place in the Premier League for the campaign of 2019/20.

With plenty of optimism around Villa Park following the arrival of our new owners and then seeing the first signs of what head coach Dean Smith wants to turn us into on a footballing front, the Championship Play-Off victory was the least we deserved for second half improvements in 2018/19 and with the fixtures being released on Thursday, subject to appropriate strengthening this summer, whilst it won’t be easy, the spread of the presumed tougher fixtures should work in our favour as we have good blocks of matches that can be considered winnable.

Reaction on social media seemed to reflect my thoughts as I looked through and plenty remained optimistic about a successful first return where the main aim will be consolidation, and then kick on from there with a proper plan in place.
