Jlloyd Samuel, who with a bit of luck will be in from the cold following the departure of David O’Leary as Villa manager, is looking forward to the club announcing a new manager soon.

The Mail claim that Martin O’Neill will be the new man and he will be with them for the pre-season tour they embark on this weekend.

Could that be the case?

Stranger things have happened at Villa

Left-back Samuel said: ‘It would be good for the club if things could be sorted out as soon as possible and a permanent manager appointed. Of course it is a tough time at Aston Villa at the moment with all the discussions over the future of the club. But to be honest, it’s not affecting the players that much. We are just trying to carry on as normal and get on with our jobs.’

‘There are those in the management of the club who will decide what is best for the future of Aston Villa and we will do our part by pulling together as a team and trying to get the best results on the pitch.’
