Jlloyd Samuel, who with a bit of luck will be in from the cold following the departure of David O’Leary as Villa manager, is looking forward to the club announcing a new manager soon.

The Mail claim that Martin O’Neill will be the new man and he will be with them for the pre-season tour they embark on this weekend.

Could that be the case?

Stranger things have happened at Villa

Left-back Samuel said: ‘It would be good for the club if things could be sorted out as soon as possible and a permanent manager appointed. Of course it is a tough time at Aston Villa at the moment with all the discussions over the future of the club. But to be honest, it’s not affecting the players that much. We are just trying to carry on as normal and get on with our jobs.’

‘There are those in the management of the club who will decide what is best for the future of Aston Villa and we will do our part by pulling together as a team and trying to get the best results on the pitch.’

  • Yes, JLloyd will definitely benefit from a change of manager, someone who can help rebuild his confidence and get him playing to the form he was showing a couple of seasons back. I’m glad that in the latter days of the O’Leary reign we weren’t able to off

  • I hope Jlloyd proves himself to be a better play under a new boss, but I have a nagging feeling that he just isnt good enough

  • He’s way better than Bouma on his day i think a good manager like O’neal will bring the consistency he needs

  • Agree with all the above. J’Lloyd is the Roberto Carlos of the Midlands and when he makes those over lapping runs or dribbles past a defender (like the old j’lloyd) we will realise why we kept him. Bouma to replace McCant.
