Pat Sheehan of The Sun repeats the rumour from earlier in the week that Martin O’Neill is considering a move for Portsmouth defender and ex Arsenal and Spurs man Sol Campbell. Apparently the 94-year-old former England defender (or should that read 34?) could be available on a free despite Pompey offering him a new deal on wages around £40 000 a week. Hmmm, not sure about this one, would we really go for another player so obviously at the end of their career?

Blimey, that is it. Oh well, lets start one ourselves then. I’ve heard from a great source that Villa will sign ……… (insert your own name) on Monday for a combined fee of ……….. (insert your own price) and ……….. (insert your own player) in part exchange. Easy this lark!

The rest really isn’t specifically Villa related, lets hope for a better rumour day tomorrow… in fact, sod that, lets hope for a better signing day!!!

The Daily Star say that Kevin Doyle will be sold for £6.5million by Reading next week and that the striker is currently deciding where his destination will be. Villa have been heavily linked but according to this report, we’ve not been in for him but Fulham, Bolton, Sunderland and Wolves are in the hunt.

The Daily Mirror say that Steve Bruce wants 25-year-old Spurs striker Darren Bent at Sunderland but is being put off by the massive £18million price being quoted. Only mention this one because we’ve been linked with Bent a few times… then again, I can’t think of many Spurs players we’ve not been linked with recently!

At least we do know that funds are in place as Randy Lerner once again assures fans that the club are ready to pounce! Randy Lerner ‘The Funds Are In Place’
