On Saturday Aston Villa fans were celebrating for a few reasons, bragging rights over West Bromwich Albion, a solid fight back in the game, and advantage in the Championship Play-Off Semi-Final.
Having fallen behind as they capitalised on an unfortunate Glenn Whelan error, Conor Hourihane got us back in the game with an absolute cracker with 15 minutes remaining. Four minutes later Jack Grealish found himself dragged down in the box, and Tammy Abraham made it 26 for the season as he scored from the penalty spot.
With the game ending 2-1 (away goals don’t count for double) the small advantage is ours as we head to The Hawthorns on Tuesday evening for the second leg.
One slight concern ahead of that game was the treatment received by Tyrone Mings during the game, and even head coach Dean Smith admitted he would have to be looked at in his post-game press interviews as he did have a tight hamstring.
Plenty of fans were bouyed by Mings’ own message on social media though, as he certainly doesn’t sound like someone who expects to miss the match.
