It’s all going on isn’t it?!?!?

The fans are up in arms – not because David O’Leary has departed, I’ve seen very few tears shed for him – but because the main problem still remains.

The phone-in shows have been jammed with Villa fans seeing passed the manager situation and pointing the finger of blame at Ellis. The press are also fully behind the fact that Ellis needs to go.

However, the one constant theme that all fans seem to be saying when asked, is that Martin O’Neil should be the next manager at Aston Villa. From my personal point of view, I’d walk to lands end to bring him to Villa, I’m sure many fans would, BUT not until Ellis relinquishes control surely? Why would he want to tarnish his reputation with the Ellis brush?

Lets face it, Doug let us down when Brian Clough wanted to come to Villa Park, Doug famously and selfishly said ‘there is only one Mr Aston Villa’. Clough was too big a figure for Doug to ‘handle’ but Clough could have built an empire. Martin O’Neil is in that mold and could also build something massive for us.

Fans on this site are voting overwhelmingly in favour of O’Neil in our poll and I’ve had several pms asking if we couldn’t all send letters of support to Martin O’Neil to tempt him to Villa Park.

I’d go one further and say lets do that, but lets get an ambitious board to match his ambitions!

Anyway, as I’ve had the request to do this, I’ve said I will. So why not email me at editor@astonvilla.vitalfootball.co.uk with your letters to O’Neil or leave comments in the article comments box below, or in the forum?

I will then try to ensure that Martin O’Neil gets these letters and realises just how big Aston Villa is and how much Villa fans want him?

(Just to repeat, this isn’t an initiative from me, my position won’t change, Doug needs to go first, then we can enjoy a new manager and a new era)

  • Martin O Neill is an outstanding manager who is looking to get back into football at this present time. He has turned down a few offers at other clubs which sends out the message that he is waiting for the right club to come in for him. I think he would l

  • MON is awesome. He is honest, intelligent, a great motivator and media and fan friendly.

He also has a track record that might seem made for one of the biggest jobs in football, but they don’t come much bigger opportunities than exist at Aston Villa.

  • Yes stennyvilla, but is he ready and willing to put his career on the line by walking into the hotbed that is currently Villa Park, and working for Ellis and the bunch of weak-kneed yes men that make up our boardroom? I suspect not.

  • Come on Mr O’Neil the Villa need & will worship you.
I Beg of you, please join the Villa

  • There’s no question that O’Neill is the man for the job. The only question is, would he be prepared to see far enough into the future to realise that Ellis is on his way out, one way or another. Doug failed the club, by not hiring Brian Clough and I belie
