We haven’t heard anything about Pacesetter Villa for a while, but as well as holding a 19th minute applause for Stan, they have also reached the National Championships.

They finished second in their region division ahead of Columbus Crew to secure the place in the National Championships and that’s not bad going for their innaugural season.

It’s also the first time that a Pacesetter side have reached that stage in the clubs 30 year history.

James Walker, executive director at the club and lifelong Villa fan told the Official Site:

‘It’s a massive accomplishment reaching the National Championships especially since it’s our first season in the league. It’s also the first time any team from Northwest Ohio has ever made it to the National Championships. The partnership with Aston Villa has been massive for our community, our players and our fans. With the name Aston Villa behind us we have been able to attract some of the top 18, 19 and 20 year old footballers from across America.’

He adds that there are a number of players he now expects to go on and make it in the professional ranks, and he can’t wait for the day they produce a few who are ready to come and play at Villa.

Paul Faulkner, on behalf of Villa, has already sent them our congratulations and all the best wishes for the games ahead in the Championship.
