Shaun Maloney Going Nowhere

Now tell me, does this sound like a player on the verge of transferring out of Villa Park?

Shaun Maloney, subject of much speculation this summer about wanting a return to Celtic due to homesickness, spoke to the Birmingham Mail of his relief at scoring against Fulham and adding to that tally with two great goals against Wrexham.

Hopefully the Scot will be able to kick on even further on Sunday as he’s surely done enough to earn a starting place against Chelsea?

Maloney told the Mail: ‘I felt relief more than anything. Hopefully I can kick on now. I didn’t have a great pre-season, even though the team did really well, but the goals have given me some confidence. The goal at Fulham gave me confidence going into the Wrexham match. I felt good going into that match and once I scored my first on Tuesday, I settled down and started playing better. The first was important and it’s always nice to double your individual tally.’

We’ve got a gem here, especially at just £1million, lets hope by January he is settled, happy and scoring regularly!
