Shaun Maloney Going Nowhere

Reports in the Scottish press this weekend said that Aston Villa’s January purchase Shaun Maloney was home sick and wanted to return to Celtic.

The same reports were circulated when Stiliyan Petrov moved to Villa and didn’t appear to make the impact expected for a £8.5million fee. Must admit, I can’t wait to see how he performs this season, I’m sure he’ll be far more settled, fit and up for the job.

His agent John Halliwell has been quick to dismiss these reports saying the attacking midfielder and sometimes striker is going nowhere.

Halliwell said in the Scottish Sun:

‘All this talk about Shaun being unhappy is news to me but there’s nothing in it. The last conversation I had with Celtic was in January. There is always talk about Shaun because he is a talented player but this is just completely made up.’

Adding: ‘It’s a big season for him and he’s just excited to now get his first full season in the Premiership underway.’

Having read the Vital Celtic site, it certainly seems Maloney – who some think cut and run after being developed and well supported by the Scottish giants – would be far from welcome anyway.
