Mathew Kendrick of the Sunday Mercury has an interview with Villa left-back Nicky Shorey who says he is happen to have ended a five month exile but is still not sure of his future.

The former Reading player who moved to Villa in the summer and seemingly fell out of favour very quickly after the move told the local paper that he is taking ‘one game at a time’ and that his future at the club isn’t up to him adding,

‘As long as I am here, I will be working hard and getting my head down and trying to play as best I can. If that is good enough for me to be at a club like Villa, then hopefully I will stay.”

He also says the bottom line is it is just great to be back on the pitch again “That’s the way it is but you are not so when you are not playing. Hopefully it will continue, but who knows?’

The 28-year-old said being benched for such a long period of a season was a new experience for him and one that will hopefully make him stronger.
