Obviously it is a bit quiet on the news front at the moment what with the shocking arrival of a summer and the joys of the World Cup, so on the WC theme and the news I read today on the BBC that Borussia Dortmund have banned the vuvuzelas next season, I wondered if you would ban or encourage the use of those horns at Villa Park?

Personally I think – with the fact it is another country and part of their tradition aside – the noise has detracted from the World Cup and stops the fan banter and chants which is what football is all about surely? As said, I am mindful that we are in a different country and if this is their tradition, then ‘when in Rome’ and all that.

The BBC report says that tens of thousands of the horns have been sold by shops and supermarkets so they are bound to appear in the Premiership and Football League next season unless a club takes a stance not to allow them.

They also report that the Premier League won’t be looking to make a general rule and will leave it to the individual clubs.

Obviously this hasn’t been an issue before so there are no bans in place at any Premier League club, however I can see if they are used that some fans might get annoyed enough to take action themselves, time will tell!

Borussia Dortmund General manager Hans-Joachim Watzke told the BBC: ‘Our fans don’t want to have these trumpets. It is nerve-racking and completely drowns out any chanting. We have decided as a work group at Borussia Dortmund that these horrid things will be forbidden from the Westfalenstadion.’

So, ban or not? Let us know in article comments, in the forum and on the latest poll.
