It was a disappointing weekend for Aston Villa fans as Wolverhampton Wanderers were simply better on the day as they took all three points from the derby clash, but with plenty of additional worries given the increase in our injury list – plenty of fans were happy to take the positive that was Orjan Nyland.
The 29-year-old Norwegian international arrive at the club from Ingolstadt back in the summer of 2018, and it’s not unfair to say that he failed to really impress in his 23 games for us. He didn’t quite settle, our defensive issues (and lack of centre-halves) certainly didn’t help his confidence levels either and then he was hit with injury.

Coming on in the eighth minute of the game as Jed Steer’s replacement as he picked up a calf injury, Nyland put in quite an assured performance and few believe there was anything he could do about their goals.
Not the result we wanted yesterday, but glad to have made my Premier League debut after a tough injury. Go again after the International break 👊🏻 https://t.co/DMNlo6vJHJ

The player took to social media after the game, given it was his Premier League bow and having been quick with the criticism previously, fans were also quick with the praise this time around.
Great to see you back and fully fit. UTV
