Six Goals, A Cabbage, A 97th Minute Penalty Miss – Yes, Aston Villa Were Back In Action

I’m not sure whether I missed a good game or picked a good game to miss following Aston Villa’s six-goal draw with Preston North End last night.

Jonathan Kodjia, Tammy Abraham and Yannick Bolasie all got on the scoresheet for us, but DJ Johnson (remember him!), Paul Gallagher and Louis Moult found a way past Mark Bunn to see the scores tied at the full-time whistle.

Having surrendered a 2-0 lead with James Chester seeing red, we had to be happy with a point as we trailed at the end but Glenn Whelan’s missed penalty in stoppage time meant it could’ve been the win we were all hoping for.

With a cabbage lobbed at him, issues it appears with Colin Calderwood – the dugout has gone full siege mentality in absolutely the wrong way and the fans, the only fans Bruce apparently listens to, have now spoken.

Once he misjudged the mood and criticised the fans, those mad and intellectual amongst us, it was always going to go this way and it’s sad to see.

“…for others to decide what happens now.”

Not quite, Bruce, you’re out of ideas, you’re out of centre-halves, but you’re not out of choices.
