Sloppy Villa Pay For Poor 2nd Half Palace Showing – Match Stats
Having picked up a point in the bore draw against Everton where Emi Martinez finally managed to pick up his record equalling 15th clean sheet of the season, earlier today saw us make the trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace.
Everyone was hoping for a win and all three points and in the first half, it looked like we might just get it as John McGinn opened the scoring for us in the 17th minute. Typically Christian Bentekkers levelled for them just after the hour mark, but up popped Anwar El Ghazi two minutes later to restore our lead.
The half time break was again where it changed though. We failed to build on the first half, became far more sloppy and with 15 minutes left on the clock, Wilfried Zaha made it two all, and with six to go Tyrick Mitchell got his career tally up and running as he nicked the winner.
The positive was seeing Jack Grealish get a longer run out, but we massively missed Matty Cash and Tyrone Mings in the second period, although Kortney Hause will be frustrated he didn’t get on the score sheet.
Two to go and top ten still on the cards – we’d have taken that to begin with, over to the players to make sure it happens.
