TylerVilla emailed me explaining about the latest gaff to come out of Small Heath.

He said, After the Chairman printing a full page ad in the Birmingham Evening Mail just slagging the fans off, the latest from these incompetent clowns is to send out official BCFC diaries to all reputable business’ in the local area.

Very nice touch, except under their ‘HONOURS’ section, they printed VILLAS honours as their own??

Super Cup Winners? European Cup Winners? Seven Times FA CUP Winners??

You really could not make this one up.

Blues haven’t since issued a statement saying this but according to Voiceoftheholte should have!

‘We would like to make it clear that Birmingham City have never won the European Cup. In fact we have never won the FA Cup and have never ever done better than 6th in the League. Our bigger and more illustrious neighbours have been Champions on 7 different occasions. Even David O’Deary got Villa to 6th in his first season. Apart from 1 League Cup victory in 1963 we are the most insignificant club in the Midlands, possibly the country.

We apologise to Aston Villa unreservedly. We acknowledge that only they, have ever bought football success to our City. Not only were they the first club formed in the city they have always had the same name. We have changed our name three times due to our embarrassing lack of success.

The ‘club honours’ printed in the official Birmingham City diary was actually not a mistake …….. it was just wishful thinking.’

(Their actual statement for those that are interested reads: Birmingham City Football Club has issued the following statement regarding a story which appeared in today’s Birmingham Mail about an error which occurred in our official diary: The Club is fully aware that an error has been made in the diary on just one page. The publishers, Sportswise, has acknowledged and accepted that the mistake was theirs and have unreservedly apologised for any embarrassment caused. The problem was spotted early and no diaries were distributed by the Club itself. The Club is amazed that this simple error has been deemed to be worthy of front page news and can not believe that the region is devoid of anything more newsworthy. We would also like to make it clear that Birmingham City Football Club has never won the European Cup!

With thanks to tylervilla and voiceoftheholte
