Aston Villa head coach Dean Smith met with the media ahead of this weekend’s clash with Bournemouth on Thursday, and it seems that Kortney Hause and Jonathan Kodjia have all joined James Chester on the injury list.

Villa fans knew that Chester was already nursing a hamstring injury, but apparently Hause picked up an ankle issue in Leipzig and Kodjia also took a knock on his ankle in the Premier League opener with Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to the Official Site, Smith said of our walking wounded.

“James is still missing. Kortney is still missing. Kortney picked up an ankle injury in Leipzig. Jon got injured early in the Tottenham match but managed to see the game out. He’s got a high ankle sprain so he’ll be about 10-12 days out.”

On face value, plenty will question the timing of the Kodjia injury owing to the recent speculation suggesting interest from Turkey, but for those who thought there might be more to it, Smith has doubled down on any talk of a transfer and ruled it out in quotes carried by the Birmingham Mail.

“We haven’t had any offers. We don’t welcome any. Jonathan is happy here and we are happy with him. He is looking forward to the Premier League season. We don’t expect anymore outgoings.”

We all know that won’t stop the speculation and the rumours, but with significant doubts over the reliability of the recent claims, it should certainly calm concerns amongst fans.
