With thoughts slowly beginning to turn towards the summer transfer market and Aston Villa having their own plans slightly hampered as we go into the Play-Off season extension unsure of where we’ll be in the campaign of 2019/20, the rumour mill is still building towards full tilt.

One interesting one given the hopes and expectations that we will at least throw our hat into the ring for Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham given the season he’s had with us, should they choose to sell, of course, is a rumour suggesting that we are also looking at another Chelsea striker.

Football Insider have recently claimed that head coach Dean Smith and Sporting Director Jesus Garcia Pitarch are keeping a close eye on youngster Martell Taylor-Crossdale.

The 19-year-old has represented England at a variety of under age groups apparently, and although he’s highly rated, his contract is set to expire over the summer and as of yet, fresh terms at Stamford Bridge aren’t on the table.

Therefore any subsequent move involves only training compensation.

If we can believe stats like we believed Bosko Balaban’s highlights reel, the kid does have something about him. It’s claimed he’s scored 35 goals in 52 matches at Under 18 level this year but that seems excessive in terms of game time even allowing for friendlies and European youth competitions to be included, added to seven in 29 when asked to step up to Under 23 level.

May be a name to watch for?
