Aston Villa head coach Dean Smith has been holding his pre-game press conference this afternoon ahead of our Championship clash with Derby County on Saturday.
With the headline news being the return to fitness of Jack Grealish following his time on the sidelines with a shin problem, Smith has also now confirmed that he has a decision to make between the sticks.
January arrival Lovre Kalinic has been passed fit following the competition of the ‘concussion protocol’ following the knock he took in the game against West Bromwich Albion, but whether he comes straight back into the side is open to debate with Jed Steer getting a small run in the team once again.
Fellow January arrival Tom Carroll is also back in contention after recovering from is knock and he’s had the full week back on the Bodymoor Heath pitches to build his fitness and sharpness.
Axel Tuanzebe is expected back with us across the next fortnight and he could come into Smith’s thoughts for the Blackburn Rovers tie, and we have also welcomed back Henri Lansbury to light training.
It’s expected that Ahmed Elmohamady will replace the injured Alan Hutton on the right side of defence as well.
James Chester continues to be out.
.@JackGrealish1 is finally in that bottom category ????
