So What About Villa’s Doug Then?!

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by tylervilla, So what are we going to do about Doug?

56% said a complete boycott of Villa Park. Nice thought but unworkable. Would have loved to have organised a first half boycott at a game to get the camera’s and press interested, but it is so difficult to organise and fans will always be split on ideas like this because Villa fans are faithful and all most want to do is support the team. That said, the attendances were down 7% last season and season ticket sales are again down this summer. Only thing Doug could do to bring back the masses would be to send David O’Leary on his way and bring in Martin O’Neil!

20% wanted the fans to rally in order to get the momentum going. Again, nice sentiment, but in practice it is so difficult to get the message out and to get the fans ‘up for it’. We all need something to get behind, hopefully over the summer something might happen to work as a catalyst.

10% said that he is selling so let him get on with it.

8% said nothing should be done, ‘he’s the man’. I’ve unleashed the hounds of hell on those who voted that, although to be honest they only got as far as my front door before finding the weather too hot and starting panting. 🙁 Still, thanks to all the non-Villa fans for voting!!

4% wanted Doug out t-shirts at all games until he had gone but the majority realise Doug would see his face as a sign of support and stay longer.

2% said he has got until January to do something but I don’t think they need to wait that long, he has done something, he has gone on holiday!
