Okay, so the big day is finally here after what has unfortunately already been an unexpectedly busy summer.

The last few weeks I haven’t had that much opportunity to write something that wasn’t based in ongoing financial worries or involved the sale of Jack Grealish, so this does make a nice change. Fans will certainly be relishing the big fixture day as 89% of season ticket holders have renewed from last year. Factor in new sales and Villa have already sold around the 20,000 mark.

It’ll be music to the clubs ears I guess but certainly a credit to the fans. We have already sold 1,000 more tickets than this time last year.

With a darker summer with everything that’s gone on, let’s hope that show of faith is rewarded on the pitch and Steve Bruce and the team can take our promotion hopes one step further in 2018/19. With the player’s we have lost and those we sadly anticipate losing that will be slightly more difficult, so we’ll have to wait until we see who arrives through the door – but we can hope.

So, to the fixtures and the order in which we will approach the coming season – subject to the usual caveat all games remain subject to change at the whim of the broadcasters.
