The eigth instalment of our summer long gossip column!

We’ve already had nearly 3 million (ahem) rumours, arguments and links!

So Who Will Villa Sign Pt 7 – Click Here

I must admit I’d hoped we’d have been talking about the great signings we’ve made by now, instead we are still getting the manager saying they are working hard to bring in new players. Oh well, there is always tomorrow, or the day after I guess! At least we know there is money there to spend once players can be attracted, just got to hope that the fact we aren’t in Europe this coming season isn’t proving to be a major block on big name arrivals. We need at least one big name to put down a marker for the season surely?

Anyway, here continues the rumours thread on the front page. See a story linking us with a player? Share it with us all. Heard a tenuous link, or seen a player around Villa Park? Let us know! Oh, and although I’ll do my best to announce incoming players as soon as possible, if you hear of a signing before I do, wang it on this thread as well.

The January thread ended up with nearly 2000 article comments, spaced over several articles (the limit per article is now 400 after I got it raised, anymore than that and it slows things down too much so I’ll change the threads over each time we hit the limit!)

So Far.

  • I`ve seen alot of Hangeland over the years, and I think we should definately go for him at £3 m. He is a tall, good header of the ball, relatively fast and technically able CB, who can also contribute going forward. Spent a great season at Copenhagen, and played a big part in them qualifying for the CL. He could sort of be resembled to a mix of melly and laursen, with good passing ability..

  • Red eyes, drool running down my chin, nervous twitch, and im screaming at the computer, ” ANYONE *****IN ANYONE”. Its been a long summer!!!

  • I know we dont need a midfielder but I wouldn’t mind eeing David Bently in a Villa shirt He is the next David Beckham in my view

  • 10 days to go and counting, you’ve got to admit all you optimists its getting pretty grim now!

  • It’s becoming very frustrating watching other teams spend like mad and our squad is dwindling away. I’m normally calm but this is starting to worry me a little.

  • yea but its not like we have only bought 2 players and things could be worse we could be Reading who have only bought 1 player and sold there best 2 and have been linked with no one recently

  • I know there’s about 10 days until the big kick-off, but isn’t there about a month until the transfer window shuts?

  • when man city signed m petrov i was disappointed we didn’t go for him. now they are signing bojinov, a great little player. and we sign…NOWT.
o’neill seems to be building good morale though. allardyce said it would be a disaster if he signed no one else – surely thats poor man-management!? it can’t be building the confidence of the squad.
