With speculation linking Aston Villa with a triple loan swoop for Anwar El Ghazi, Yannick Bolasie and Tammy Abrahams being touted as the possible striker to complete the set, I knew my fellow Villa fans wouldn’t let me down on social media and somewhere some wouldn’t turn it into an excuse to criticise manager Steve Bruce.

Abraham’s as the man who completes the set isn’t left field at all as he’s been on the rumour mill for a while with it believed that Chelsea were willing to loan him out again this year and there’s a genuine sense amongst some fans that if we can pull the latter two deals off – given last night’s announcement of the arrival of El Ghazi from French Ligue 1 side Lille – Villa could and should have real hopes of cracking the automatic places in 2018/19 if people can hit the ground running.

Whether it can be considered better than last year’s squad is an open debate, but compared to a week ago it would certainly move us far closer to the aim of promotion even if we’re whispering it a little quieter this year after our summer shenanigans.

IF these deals and Matt Targett come off, we have to get the rest of our young lads out on loan for real game time though – that would be my caveat.

Now the real question is, will the timer betray me and will I look silly when this goes live?
