Some Villa Fans Might Get Their Wish Given Latest Injury Concern

|

Sunday afternoon didn’t turn into a great day for Aston Villa fans as Leicester City pretty comfortably put us to the sword with a 4-1 scoreline at Villa Park, and probably expectedly given their form this year, there were few positives to take from the tie.

Despite creating a fair few chances ourselves at goal, albeit only two on target, few could begrudge the size of the win and we also lost Tyrone Mings and Matt Targett to injury and they are both now a concern ahead of this weekend’s clash with Sheffield United.

Chris Wilder’s side marks a period of fixtures where we can be confident of picking up more points given the number of top six sides we’ve faced so far, so those fans with concerns will be hoping the table takes on a better reflection given our performances overall.

With head coach Dean Smith confirming that Mings’ issue was a hamstring problem, this weekend could well see Bjorn Engels partner Ezri Konsa, and there are those who have been calling for that for a few weeks given the perceived dip in the form of Mings.

At the time of typing, the severity of the issue hasn’t been confirmed but there’s already some speculation our England centre-half will now be out until the New Year.

We’re also waiting on an update about Targett.
