Julie has been talking about new song ideas for Villa and sent me the following suggestion, (also on Villa Talk and Holteenders I believe).

For any who’ve been reading the Message Board I asked for some new ideas for songs for a new era at Villa Park. From Joey’s original idea quite a few people seem to like the idea of us adopting a German beer drinking song ‘Viva Colonia’ for us to sing & clap to as a new song . It was apparently sung at the World Cup in Cologne to great effect & was a No1 hit in Germany. Currently no one else in UK football clubs does a version so this so it would be unique.

We hope its a positive, rousing song that will get everyone off their seats & joining in at VP, even if its only to clap. I’ve approached the club about this and they apparently like what they’ve heard and are in discussions about taking it forward but at the moment I’m waiting for them to get back to me.

As it looks like its going to be a near sell out on Wednesday for Reading, if any are interested in singing the song at VP. I thought I’d post the words which we’ve re-drafted, market researched ie sang it to a few and come up with what we hope is a decent version of the song.

I’ve posted ALL the words in case people wanted to print them out.

The main bit is the Chorus and it maybe that people mainly sing that like Three Lions. If you listen to MP3 file then you will see its mainly the chorus that’s sung

If you don’t know the song already here’s the link to the Germans singing it

This is the words to the whole song

‘VIVA ASTON VILLA’

Constant Clapping

Chanting at beginning: (OPTIONAL)
Let`s ALL sing!!…Giving the Boys a CHEER
Let`s ALL sing!!.. “Give US another BEER!!!”
Let`s ALL sing!!… Villains & we`re PROUD
Let`s ALL sing!!… One & All ALOUD

CHORUS: (REPEAT AT WILL)
Here`s to a THRI-LLA, VIVA ASTON VI-LLA!
Lions ROAR! They`ll SCORE!
Then you`ll be out the DOOR
So come on boys in CLARET & BLUE
We`ll sing our song for YOU…

VERSE: (OPTIONAL)
In Rotterdam in 82 Champions we BECAME
With Martin O’Neill & Randy too again that is our AIM
Singing our song LOUD & CLEAR, cos Villa`s on the UP
So get us a goal, we`re here to score, to win….
For the league & the CUP

Sounds better than the usual **** on the City song!

  • If we are looking for songs I quite like(to the tune of the gunners Viera song):
Steve Davis oh oh oh oh
Steve Davis oh oh oh oh
    He Plays next to McCann
    He’s better than Zidane

  • I liked the addams family one we did for McCann on SoccerAM!!

    “Gavin McCann (click fingers twice)”
“Gavin McCann x 3 (click fingers twice)”
    “He Tackles and herasses,

He’s a favorite with the lasses,
    His names is Gavin

  • love that one. I hate gavin mcant but would be worth it for the audio entertainment. If we could get villa park clicking fingers…..

  • I love the Chorus of Viva Colonia, really rousing. I had a suggestion for the chorus though – what about:

WE ARE GOING TO KILL YA, VIVA ASTON VILLA
WE’LL SHOOT, WE’LL SCORE, THEN YOU’LL BE OUT THE DOOR
SO COME ON THE BOYS IN CLARET AND CLUE
    LETS HEA

  • I would have thought it would be something to the tune of the candy man song replacing the candy with the obvious.
