Sorensen not happy at Halsey

Thomas Sorensen is not a happy man. Not only was he taken out, shot and left stranded on the floor, but Wigan were still allowed to go on and via the Mule score.

Sorensen bemoaned the decision by match ‘ref’ Halsey after the game:

‘I thought it was a clear free-kick. Obviously it’s difficult for the referee to see it, but he was there to block me. I got in front of him and as I was going for the ball he pushed me in the back and straight into one of our players. You can’t do anything about it. He didn’t see it, obviously he’s not got eyes everywhere, but it’s just sad that it cost us.’

‘It was frustrating, because nine out of ten times it goes for you and it just seems that they choose the day to not give a foul. That’s the thing that’s annoying. It was a free-kick, but obviously he didn’t see it, but on nine other occasions he would have given it. It was all the more frustrating because we’d played ever so well and created loads of chances. Their goal came at a bad time, but as the game went on and they went down to ten men, we got the goal and should have had more.’

‘It wasn’t to be. It was definitely a game where we should have won easily – even after going one down.’

He also promises more points are coming our way in the last few games of the season ‘We’re confident and we’re looking upwards now.’

Which is nice, albeit a bit late for this season!

I think he is right, he was taken out but I also think he was flapping a bit and probably not where he should have been anyway, he certainly does lack the ability to really command his area at times.
