Thomas Sorensen says Villa have to show they mean business this summer.

The Denmark international keeper wants to see the club push on saying:

‘I hope we spend big in the summer. It has been so-so for a few years. I have been here for four years and we have had a couple of decent seasons, but never really done the business. We need a few good signings to get there. Obviously if we’re talking about European football, I would like to see that happen. The new chairman and manager don’t want to be a mid-table team, they want to be a top-eight team and playing for European places. That is definitely the aim.’

‘To do that we need strengthening across the board. I have said all along if that happens I would like to be part of it. Gareth Barry and myself were considering what to do at the end of last season, but the new changes have brought a lot of hope to the club and future plans. New training ground, new manager, new money. I hope we will see this summer the club means business.’

Would also be good to see the players put in slightly more effort than they have at times this year, it surely can’t all be down to the manager and chairman can it?

The shot-stopper ended saying: ‘We can’t say at the moment we are as big as Liverpool, but we are definitely trying to get there and I think everything is in place to get there. It is a case of getting those players to the club. That is the main thing. If you can’t attract the big players, you are going to find it hard to achieve Champions League of Uefa Cup places.’
