Spiderman Arrested – Who’ll Save Us?

I don’t often panic but I must admit yesterday at the Villa I witnessed something that has really worried me. In fact, it hasn’t just worried me, it has shaken me to the core.

Honestly guys and gals, as far as I’m concerned the next few months is every man, woman and child for themselves, I’m am truly panicking, truly truly panicking.

Why?

Well, the Sheffield United fans were doing the conga yesterday, having a great time despite the fact the day was all about Villa (well done to the Blades fans for clapping our 82 heroes by the way) and their team was played off the park.

Anyhow, the conga and the fun by the Blades fan apparently isn’t allowed so in went the stewards and more pathetically the heavy handed police (and I have no problems with the police, they were always great with us over protests etc and always helped/never charged). Anyway, some of the fans took affront at being told they weren’t allowed to enjoy themselves and a few were led out. Totally over the top and really not needed.

Now, I wasn’t worried when sponge bob square pants was led out (or was he rung out?) and scooby leaving wasn’t a major worry because it was probably time for his scooby snacks anyway BUT the sight that has put me in a whirlwind of panic was to see Spiderman arrested.

Ok, he was standing up and dancing, well surely even superheroes are allowed a day off? But now superman has been incarcerated, who will save the world?

Seriously, Batman is off with Catwomen. Superman has always been a bit dodgy wearing his pants over his trousers and to my mind has often seemed more interested in showing everyone that he can fly around the world rather than actually doing anything. NO, for me Spiderman was the man and now, for the terrible crime of enjoying himself at a football game, he is now out action.

So, be warned, we’ve brought this on ourselves, our superhero is caught in a web and maybe more disasters of the same ilk will continue until the fans decide that enough is enough. I guess his sentence might be made worse if he is found to have been in possession of a bottle top?! Dangerous indeed.

Maybe we should all set out to get ‘our’ game back? Maybe one day common sense will prevail over political correctness and petty health and safety? I’d not bet on it mind.
