Stats: Controversial Leveller Pegs Villa Back In West Brom Derby

|

Friday nights are exactly what football was invented for, wasn’t it? In any event this week Aston Villa made the short trip across Birmingham to visit near neighbours West Bromwich Albion.

Our Championship clash took place at The Hawthorns and Villa had every reason for confidence going into the tie given the turn of form and performance levels we’ve seen since head coach Dean Smith arrived at B6.

Given both sides prefer to be on the front foot these days few expected this to be a one-goal game, and although it was pretty level, we can consider ourselves unfortunate to not have taken victory as we led twice through an Anwar El Ghazi brace of goals but the hosts did level the ties in stoppage-time to secure a point from the game.

With their second leveller being tagged as controversial, plenty will be wanting extra looks at the highlights to see whether an arm was used or not.

We remain unbeaten though and simply look to the next one now.
