Stats: Ipswich Town v Aston Villa

Aston Villa took an emphatic victory at Portman Road as we faced Ipswich Town this afternoon.

Villa opened the scoring through Conor Hourihane as he slotted home after a Lewis Grabban effort came back off the woodwork. The match became more comfortable for us shortly before the halftime break as Grant Ward saw a straight red card for a high challenge on Neil Taylor.

Against ten man Ipswich in the second half, Villa added three more strikes to improve our goal difference with Grabban helping himself to a brace and Henri Lansbury netting inside of the final ten minutes.

Too little too late for automatic promotion maybe, but a solid 4-0 victory for Play-Off purposes isn’t to be sneered at as we all know we needed to improve our form and this result makes it three wins on the spin once again. After the Norwich defeat, there’s not much more Steve Bruce and the lads could do.

Derby County next and then we close out the regular campaign with a trip to The Den and Millwall.

Then the Play-Offs!
