Young goalkeeper Jed Steer has today signed a new contract extension at Villa Park and extended his loan spell out with Championship side Huddersfield Town.
The 23 year old has put pen to paper on the new deal this morning, and his new deal with us will run until the end of the 2018-19 season.
Speaking to the official site about the extension he explained.
‘I am delighted to commit my future here at Villa. It’s a fantastic place to be – but I am also enjoying getting regular football at Huddersfield Town too. It’s been good for my football education. Today’s been a good day and I’m focused on pushing forward now.’
Steer’s career record now stands at 62 career appearances since coming through Norwich’s youth academy and the majority of those have obviously come from loan spells out with Yeovil (twice), Cambridge, Doncaster and most recently, Huddersfield.
Since moving to the John Smith’s Stadium in September for a spell with their manager Chris Powell, Steer has been in good form over his five appearances and his initial month’s spell has now been extended until November 11.
Powell said of the player.
‘Jed has performed very well for us during his month at the Club. He`s looked right at home in his first games in the Championship and I believe he`s deserved at least one clean sheet, if not more. Waiting to extend Jed`s loan until this point maximises the number of games that he can play now the international break has ended.’
The new extension means he can now take in a maximum further six games until the loan expires.
