Stephen Ireland has said he will end his International exile following the European Championships.

Speaking to the E&S Ireland explained that he felt the time was right to make himself available to Ireland again and mend some bridges along the way, but he wouldn’t do so before the European Championships as it would be unfair for him to capitalise on the hardwork that others had done in securing qualification.

‘I’ve matured and I can now focus on considering a return if the question was to come my way. Previously I was a young dad with a young family with little stability and no support network around me. I am now in a great place, my life is set and I’m more settled. I am just concentrating on reproducing my best form for my club and see what happens from there. The lads that got us to Poland deserve to travel to the finals, they will do Ireland proud.’

Well, sounds like he might be settled at the Villa then. Which if true and he can reproduce the form we know he’s capable of, then we’ll only benefit from it.

But he has to be selected first for that to happen.
