Aston Villa are flying along at the moment and the games are going to come thick and fast now.

This is the moment in the season when the big players step up and we’ll be looking for the likes of Jack Grealish and co. to do the business.

Interestingly, we’ve also got a chance of getting one over old manager Steve Bruce who many of us were happy to see the back of at the end of it all.

In some respects, though, he did do a good job and some of his latest comments are, to be fair, pretty spot on.

He said – via the Mirror:

“It was a very, very difficult, 12, 18 months,” he said. “To get to the play-off final, I thought was one of my better achievements.

“But because it’s Aston Villa, nobody looks at it even though we were in financial trouble for a long, long time.

“We had to wheel and deal with the free transfers. The previous summer we spent £2million and brought in £25million.”

Of course, it ended badly and he had to go but I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves for much of what he did prior to this season.

I don’t want him to win tomorrow, but I do wish him well for the future without doubt.
