After celebrating his first goal for Villa in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield United on Monday night, Stiliyan Petrov told Villa World TV News

‘It was great to get my goal, but that’s not the main thing. The main thing is that we should have gone on to win this match. I knew as soon as I hit it that I’d got my first goal. I’ve gone very close quite a few times and it has been a frustrating wait. I’ve hit the bar and had shots saved and cleared off the line. But I knew the first goal would come and in the past, when I’ve scored goals I’ve gone on a bit of a run. Hopefully that can happen now. We have some big games coming up and I’d love to get a few more goals.’

A few v Bolton at the weekend will do very nicely thank you very much.

On the game he looked at it as two dropped points adding ‘We know we should have won. We had a few chances to win the game, but we didn’t take them and we were punished in the second-half. That’s what happens in this league and we have to start killing teams off.’

‘We were sitting comfortably in the first-half, but we knew what to expect in the second-half and we didn’t defend as well as we did in the first. We just lost concentration at times and we paid the price. They came out and put us under pressure. They got two quick goals to go 2-1 in front. But once Milan equalised, I thought we could go on to win the game. That didn’t happen and we have another away draw. It would be nice to turn a few of these draws into wins.’
