Callum O’Hare has long been regarded as one of our next brightest prospects at Aston Villa and he’s now notching up two good loan spells away from the club as he builds on his small experience with us (five starts and four substitute showings).

In 2018/19 he spent the second half of the year out with Carlisle United, making 16 appearances with a return of three goals. This year he’s headed out to Coventry City and to date, has four starts and four substitute showings, with a return of two goals.

Former player Alan Hutton has made his foray into the world of punditry this season and speaking to Football Insider this week, our former right back has admitted that O’Hare talent was clear for all to see during his time at the club, and he feels it’s only a matter of time before he truly gets a shot at our first team – and takes it.

“I like Callum O’Hare. He was introduced into the squad a few seasons ago. We’ve seen glimpses, he’s a different player, probably more like your number 10 – sees a pass other people don’t see and I think that was the thing that stood out for me. For someone so young to have ability like that, it was really outstanding. Again, he’s not had as much game time as he would probably have liked but I think that’s the case of you need to go out and play. He’s gone out on loan to Coventry and I think he is going to get the time he needs there. Hopefully he’s a player that will develop and he’ll get better and come back as a better player.”

He’s certainly impressing at Coventry, so maybe next season?
