With few positives to be taken from Aston Villa’s hammering at the hands of Sheffield United last weekend, one player did stand out for obvious reasons.

Losing 4-1 at Bramall Lane, summer signing Anwar El Ghazi probably easily stole the show purely on the back of opening up his club account as he grabbed our consolation on the day to give the travelling fans something to shout about.

It was poor from everyone and our usually more reliable players didn’t really shine.

Whoscored didn’t rank one player as being worthy of even a 7 match rating from the game. Only El Ghazi broke the 6.50 mark, pulling in 6.84.

Ahmed Elmohamady, John McGinn, Jonathan Kodjia and Mile Jedinak completed the top five but as a testament to the day, Jack Grealish and James Chester came tenth and eleventh and they are normally right up there for us.

Just a bad day all around and with positives to come from how we started the campaign, the worry is we are on a slide now and after previous draws results are starting to catch up.

That’s not a good place to be in.
