England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce has been singing the praises of Villa’s new winger James Milner.

Pearce says the former Newcastle midfielder, who holds the record with 36 caps, for appearances in the U21’s is at the right club with Aston Villa and tips him to be a major success.

“If you’re going to join anybody, the environment at Villa is ideal. Villa are only getting stronger as a club, and Martin once again has been successful with another club. It’s no surprise to me because he is one of the best managers we’ve got on these shores. For Milner to come to Villa was a great move for him. He’s not walked through the door and started but that’s the strength of the team at the moment. Milner’s the sort who will roll his sleeves up, keep his mouth shut and fight for his place.’

He also says that he is sure that Milner will break into the full England squad and Psycho has no qualms at all about recommending him.

‘He is fighting Reo-Coker at the moment for that shirt, it will be interesting. But as kids go you are buying the crown jewels, he’s such a strong character.”

Is the crown jewels the same as the dogs boll…. I’ll stop there!

On his future England chances Pearce added, in the Sunday Mercury, ‘Milner has to make sure that he keeps on improving, but he plays the game and regularly gives you seven out of ten. Players like that are worth their weight in gold, O’Neill paid £12 million for him so that’s a great recommendation.’

So there you go, we’ve got a player worth his weight in gold, the dogs doo dah’s, the crown jewels. Cool…!
