Sub Plot For Villa Striker Sale?

The Mirror have an article by Martin Rogers today suggesting that Baros is about to swap one Villa for another. Our top striker is being linked to a £9million move to Villarreal with a bid expected before the World Cup.

Very worrying, because the sub plot at Villa will be to take the money and use it to buy players in the summer. Then come August the club will claim to have spent £9million and the press will report that Doug has put his hand in his pocket again. If only they took away sales from the purchase figures, they would see most managers have ‘survived’ on a very similar budget.

The report re-iterates that Baros has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave if another team make a bid of above a certain level. They now quote £18m whereas last week it was between £13-15million.

It also says that Villarreal will want to bid before the world cup in case the players value goes up if he puts in the same performances as he did in the Euro Cup for the Czech Republic.

David O’Leary has also stated that he wants a bigger ‘James Beattie’ type striker, so might also decide to cash in on Milan.
