Aston Villa’s Easah Suliman sent England’s Under 19 side on the path to victory in today’s U19 European Championship Final against Portugal.

Suliman used his head to put England ahead before Chelsea youngster Dujon Sterling unfortunately volleyed into his own net six minutes later. Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha put us back in front and despite playing the final nine minutes with ten men after Fulham’s Tayo Edun was sent off for a second yellow, England held on for the two one victory.

With England’s under age groups seeing success recently, the Under 20s lifted the World Cup and the Toulon Tournament in June, whilst the Under 21s reached the semi finals of the European Championships in Poland – losing on penalties to Germany – and our Under 17s also reached the final of their European Championship campaign, the Under 19s become the latest to taste success, lifting their first European Championship trophy.

Aaron Ramsdale (Gk) – Bournemouth, Dujon Sterling – Chelsea, Jay Dasilva – Chelsea, Tayo Edun – Fulham, Easah Suliman – Aston Villa, Isaac Buckley-Ricketts – Manchester City, Andre Dozzell – Ipswich Town, Mason Mount – Chelsea, Ryan Sessegnon – Fulham, Lukas Nmecha – Manchester City, Darnell Johnson – Leicester City.

Subs: Nathan Trott – West Ham United, Ben Brereton – Nottingham Forest, Marcus Edwards – Tottenham Hotspur, Josh Dasilva – Arsenal, Jacob Maddox – Chelsea, Reece James – Chelsea.

Well done all, especially Suliman!
