Sky Sport ‘understand’ … and when they say ‘understand’ unlike the papers, these guys usually know… that Villa have made a bid for Portsmouth’s 31-year-old French defender Sylvain Distin.

He’s been linked a million times this summer to Villa and several times to Everton as well as a return to Manchester City. The link would certainly make sense.

The Sun have gone one further and claimed the defender has ‘stunned’ the Fratton Park folks by putting in a transfer request with Villa, Everton and Sunderland all interested. Am I losing the very few marbles I’ve got left or was that not said earlier in the summer also? That reports claim he’d cost around £5m

The Daily Mirror say that Everton might be about to bid £5m for Boro’s German centre back Robert Huth who we have also been linked with. They claim that they also want former Villa and now Bolton defender Gary Cahill but are being put off by the £10m price tag.

Another report claims former Arsenal, Portsmouth and Spurs defender Sol Campbell has snubbed a move to Villa in favour of Notts County, truth be told I can’t even be bothered to open up the link to the report… even I have my limits gossip wise! :o)
