Late yesterday evening, Aston Villa confirmed that young goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo had been recalled from what was supposed to be a season long loan out with local League One side Burton Albion.

The 21-year-old shot stopper tasted success with Scottish Championship side Ayr during the 2020/21 campaign, and his first loan spell out from the club saw him take in 29 starting appearances, and he did impress.
This year we thought we’d give him League One experience to bring him on further, but it didn’t turn out to be a great spell for the Finnish youth international, as he only made eight starts across all competitions for Burton. He did keep two clean sheets in Cup competitions, and he helped play his part in helping them to two draws from the four league games he played in, but with Burton struggling, their manager went for experience and Sinisalo hasn’t featured since early to mid-November.
We’ll simply have to see if we get him back out now for some better game time in the second half of the campaign, or whether or not manager Unai Emery now takes the opportunity to have a much closer look at him.
Year full of memories. Ups and downs where there has been so much to learn from. New challenges and experiences that I sure will remember. Looking forward to seeing what 2023 has to offer.
Happy New Year to all!🎇 #BAFC #avfc #Huuhkajat pic.twitter.com/wdW2HIeQhi— Viljami Sinisalo (@VSinisalo01) December 31, 2022
Some good saves in those clips given his age.
