Stuart Taylor has told the official site he is determined to fight for his place after pulling off several high quality stops to save Villa’s blushes against Liverpool on Saturday.

The former Arsenal man told the official site:

‘Who knows what’s going to happen now? There’s me, Thomas and Scott Carson here now and I don’t know what’s going to happen. The manager has decided to bring Scott Carson (on loan from Liverpool) in, because of the injury to Thomas, but I played on Saturday and I’d like to play next week. I’m in the football business to play football. I don’t want to sit on the bench and I’d like to play next week at Newcastle. But obviously it’s the manager’s choice and I respect that. I’ve just got to get my head down and keep working.’

He also says it is a ‘hard job’ as the No2 at a club but feels he played well enough against Liverpool making some ‘decent saves’.

Meanwhile Scott Carson says he is ready!

‘I’m delighted to be here. Obviously I know a few players here from the England set-up and having spoken to the manager, I’ve got good vibes about Villa. There’s a buzz about the place and I can’t wait to get started.’

‘I’ve come here because I want to push for regular first team football. I wasn’t happy sitting on the bench at Liverpool. Hopefully I’ve come here to give the manager something to think about and hopefully force my way into the team. Hopefully I can play my part in a big season and help Aston Villa get into Europe.’
