Team Spirit Was Key

Marc Albrighton has told the official site that ‘togetherness’ played a massive part in the stiffs winning the Reserve Title.

The nippy winger hasn’t had a bad season really when you consider his involvement in the first team this year, his form for the stiffs and scoring the opening goal and creating the other one in last night’s match against the Albion.

In his mind, the successful season for the reserves was the amount of hardwork the players put in.

‘We’ve done really well this season but this has got to be the highlight.

‘It shows in the dressing room with the lads jumping up and down, smiles on their faces looking really happy.

‘We’ve worked so hard all year and we’ve just done it for each other.’

Albrighton also allowed himself a little giggle that his goal came from his leftfoot.

‘I saw Nathan making a run and I was screaming for it off him.

‘It fell to my left foot and it’s a rarity for one to go in off my left foot but I enjoyed it!’

Retaining the title this year is no small achievement when you consider the type of players used in reserve teams thesedays, especially as we seem for the most part to only utilise true reservists or Academy lads.

Hopefully a good few of them will be able to make the step up into the first team and be able to do a job for us.
