Right, what madness do we have to contend with today?!

The Sun have a link that some have already mentioned in the forums.

Apparently former Italy manager Roberto Donadoni (I thought he was one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Then again, I need to get our more) is interested in taking the managers job at Villa.

The 46-year-old manager’s rep… Charles Collymore … is quoted:

‘Roberto is a great student of the English game and he is very interested in the job at Aston Villa. He knows Villa are a top club with an ambitious owner and he feels he could be a success there. Roberto has worked at the highest level and he has always dreamed of coaching in England.’

Adding, ‘He has the experience and talent to help develop the best young English talent and also the knowledge to help find the best foreign talent available.’

Donadoni took Italy to the quarter finals of the 2008 European Championships left Napoli last October.

He was also linked to the Fulham job this summer. Having looked at a few interviews on youtube, it appears that he can speak English very well, the one thing I do know is that we’ll not end up with the ridiculous situation of having a manager who can’t speak the language!

Meanwhile, Stiliyan Petrov seems keen on Kevin MacDonald getting the job. He told Talksport Drive Time (interview click here):

‘I`m a big fan [of MacDonald. I`ve been at the club for nearly four and a half years and I`ve been seeing Kevin MacDonald working with the reserve team for a long time and he`s been great with them and great with us. He knows exactly what`s happening in the club and he`s willing, probably more than anybody, to do well for this club because he`s worked here for a long time.’

John Percy at The Mirror says Gerard Houllier as director of football alongside Kevin MacDonald who will bring in Steve Staunton which is basically what I said yesterday! lol See here: So Now The Press Say Houllier But No Sven!

Anyway, the report says he could be announced on Monday in what will would be a ‘major gamble’ by Villa owner Randy Lerner.

Interestingly the report also says that Villa CEO Paul Faulkner consulted with former manager and top gentleman Graham Taylor last week. Good to know.

Speaking of Graham Taylor… please read: London To Paris – Sir Graham Of Taylor…

I digress… for once with good reason!

MacDonald would apparently be happy to work with a more experienced person ‘above’ … sort of makes good sense, Big Mac IS used to working with players not of his choice (ie youth players coming through and senior players not in the first team) and maybe this would ‘shelter’ him from some of the pressure as he learns the job?

There is a Mirror doo dah on Houllier here. not sure there is a need for a couple of the comments but hey ho… Click Here

Reminder what non executive director General Krulak has confirmed that some fans have it wrong, they aren’t just looking at out of work managers… ‘First off, we have and are continuing to look at Managers who are currently employed, are outside of the UK, are not outside of the UK and who are not employed. Simple as that.’ (see here:Click Here )
